Four National MPs will be peddling their way across the South Island in a charity bike ride from Kumara to New Brighton from 12 October.  The ride aims to raise $40,000 for two pools at Central New Brighton School.

Aaron Gilmore, Chris Auchinvole, David Bennett and Amy Adams will join Christchurch police officers in the bike ride that will cover 258 kilometres over three days.

“I am excited that my colleagues and I are able to take part in this worthy cause.  The money raised will help pay for essential repairs to the pools so they can be open for next summer,” says Mr Gilmore.

“Each MP will cycle up for to three hours and be sponsored for the journey they complete.  Other National MPs who are unable to take part have given their support by pledging a donation.

“As an MP I relish opportunities like these to help our local communities and schools.  This is a great example of the community working together for a great cause.”
