Gilmore earthquake survey results
Christchurch-based National MP Aaron Gilmore says results from his earthquake survey show 70 per cent of people think the Government’s response to the devastating earthquakes have been good or excellent.
“This is really encouraging given the difficult circumstances. It’s been a challenging year for the people of Christchurch and the National-led Government is making every effort to help,” says Mr Gilmore.
Over 500 survey replies were returned from across the electorate with a slightly higher response rate from the most earthquake-damaged areas.
A majority said the Government’s response to the land damage issue has been good or fair.
“The Government has worked hard to get a fair and positive outcome as quickly as possible for all those affected but it’s hard to please everybody. We know there is always room for improvement especially with accelerating claims processing and getting the orange zone resolved so people can move forward with their lives,” says Mr Gilmore.
“Our focus remains with the recovery and rebuild of our great city but given the magnitude of the job we need to ensure that we get it right,” Mr Gilmore says.
